Cheesy Apple Protein Waffles
It's fresh apple season here in Wenatchee, the apple capital of the world. :-D These waffles combine four of the most satiating foods to keep you feeling full for longer! Apple, potato, whole grains, and protein! Low calorie too! Here's the nutrition breakdown for the above picture (3 waffles including butter and syrup): 450 calories 38g protein 57g carb 10g fat Pretty good, right? On top of being filling, high protein, and low calorie it also has 8g of fiber and lots of potassium which is a vital nutrient that cannot be supplemented by taking vitamins. Ok here's the recipe: -1/2 cup Kodiak Power Cake mix -6tbsp (92g) liquid egg whites -1/2 an Apple (100g) -50g Red Potato (or any potato really) -1/4 cup (28g) fat free cheddar cheese
-1/8 cup (14g) full fat cheddar cheese -1/2 tbsp (4g) whipped butter -Top with calorie free maple syrup like Walden Farms -Slice the potato and apple into small chunks and microwave until soft (about 2 minutes) -Mash potatoes in bowl then combine all ingredients with 2/3 cup of water -Lightly spray waffle iron with non-stick spray I have a standard waffle iron (not belgian) so it's about 1/3 cup mix per waffle. Top with whipped butter and syrup of choice. Caloriess above are for calorie free syrup. ENJOY the savory sweetness. It reminds me of when we used to put cheddar cheese on apple pie growing up in Canada!
