I get asked about how to eat on vacation. A LOT, haha. My philosophy when it comes to vacation is simple. Do what feels right, what feels healthy, and what makes you feel good the day after and not solely in the moment. Vacations are about experiences and making memories. There are parts of vacation that can make you feel good both the day after and in the moment, even indulgent food and alcohol that can do both. But we know overdoing it does not work that way, nor does it make for better memories. A lot of times we have a fear of missing out (FOMO!) if we don’t get drunk or eat as much of the tasty food as possible until we're uncomfortably full. But try this. Think back to a good memory including a delicious food or drink. What does the memory involve? It likely includes the taste of the food or the people you were with or where you experienced it that brings up those happy memories. Rarely do the memories center around 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 you actually ate. Overeating does not make us happier and usually causes guilt. The worst thing you can do is have too much alcohol to where you start forgetting things. That quite literally erases good memories you could have made. I have lots of tips and tricks when it comes down to the details of travel, but the overall philosophy is simple. If it leaves you happy, full of memories, and without guilt the next day then you did it right. :-)
